Vox by default offers you two additional phone lines and another line for each extra phone or handset that you order. There is however two limitations, the first is that you can use a maximum of 5 additional handsets on one Vox base station. You can only connect one base station per ADSL line. The second major limitation is the speed of your ADSL line. Since VoIP technology uses your Internet data and bandwidth to make calls, the more people talk simultaneously the more Internet bandwidth and traffic you will use.
How do I connect computers to the Vox modem?
Vox has two ways of connecting computers to the Vox modem to allow them to gain Internet Access. Via network cable and via wireless link
How many computers can I connect simultaneously?
The wireless connection allows 5 computers to connect simultaneously. There are only two cable links (ports), however you can connect the Vox modem to a network hub which will allow more computers to connect via network cable. To buy a network hub simply contact your local computer store. Hubs are in the region of R 500.
How much air time will I get with a 1 Gig cap?
If used only for the phone with no emails, attachments, downloads etc - it will give you approximately 4200min of call time!
Will there be a difference in lines for my Home use and Office use?
No. But Telkom charge a different rate for home and office ADSL. Vox does not differentiate.
What does calls to a Vox 087 number cost?
That depends on where the call is coming from; all calls from Cellular networks will be priced at the standard cell phone charge, International networks are not connected at this stage. Other Alternative Service providers, like MWeb, will be priced as cheaply as possible and the cheapest will be Vox to Vox calls. Telkom, however, are charging R1.07 to phone a Vox No. which is substantially less than a cellular call and slightly more than a Telco to Telco National call, (but we believe this is an issue that their customers may take up with Telkom.) They can either switch to Vox or some other provider, or put pressure on Telkom themselves. We believe the natural competitive process will drive this down.
